David KirkBeing a Swim Club kid from his 8th to 17th year took him all the way to Nationals and even Olympic trials. Adding to Dave's passion for the water, he was witness to World Records set by Alex Bauman, Victor Davis, and Anne Ottenbrite. These are just stages in Dave's journey... Dave first hit the triathlon scene in 1982 at Falcon Lake Manitoba. He entered, he won, and he liked it. Since then Dave has gone on to race countless more triathlons of every size. He won lots, lost some but all the while kept in his mind that he was doing this for him. That's probably why you won't see Dave hanging around for the medals. Many may speculate what Dave's favorite race is, but would be surprised to learn that it is actually the Whiskey Dyck held in Ellensburg Washington. Oh yeah, Dave also won Ironman Canada in 1986 too... Dave started coaching swimming in 1981 and since then has moved into coaching athletes of all levels in running, swimming, cycling and XC skiing. All with a few life lessons mixed in! |
